1. VSSPC has been a trend setter in sericulture, introducing several innovations and best practice.
2. Produced Bivoltine hybrids & P1 Bivoltine DFLs for commercial use. Conducted training programs to enhance farmers’ technical skills.
3. Maintained a comprehensive database of 10,000+ sericulturists, customers, and seed farmers
4. Computerized silkworm seed production data, including egg processing and crop results of all customers.
5. Adopted meticulous microscopic lot-wise examination of pupae and moths to ensure 100% disease-free silkworm eggs.
6. Introduced Pebrine detection & scientific rejection procedures, collaborating with KSSRDI, SSTL, Kodathi reporting 238 Pebrine cases (1991–2015) to help the department to control disease outbreaks.

Institution Building & Industry Leadership

VSSPC has been instrumental in creating institutions and platforms for the sericulture community:
1. Founded Karnataka State Licensed Silkworm Seed Producers Trust (KSLSSPT) to address seed producers’ and sericulturists’ challenges.
2. Formed Karnataka Registered Silkworm Seed Producers Association (KRSSPA) in 2015, merging KSLSSPT into it for a unified platform.
3. Formed Quality Sericulture Service Club (QSSC) in 2003 to bring together progressive sericulturists, silk reelers, and seed producers, creating quality awareness.
4. Created Chawki Rearing Centres Association, Karnataka in 2017, uniting 350+ centres to enhance quality standards and address members’ issues.
5. Conducted technical seminars and workshops involving national & international experts for the benefit of all stakeholders.
6. Helped establish ‘Silk Cart’ mobile application, the first-of-its-kind digital platform for sericulture activities.

Knowledge Sharing & Publications

1. Published “Siri Sampada” Souvenir during a 1995 seminar for Silkworm Seed Producers and Sericulturists.
